Whitehaven, Tennessee
Whitehaven will always be known as the place where the king
of rock n' roll made his home. When Elvis Presley went house hunting in the 1950s, he
found Graceland among the quiet residential streets and rolling meadows of Whitehaven.
Located just west of Memphis International Airport,
Whitehaven is one of Memphis' most established neighborhoods. Most of the subdivisions
were built in the 1950s and 1960s. Along the tree shaded streets are several close-knit
apartment communities.
Whitehaven offers many amenities, including McKellar Park, a
favorite place to watch the jets come and go at the airport. The Will Carruthers Softball
Complex is one of the city's favorite places to enjoy softball. Other parks include Walter
Chandler Park and Dalstrom Park. For shopping excursions, Southland Mall and Southbrook
Mall are close by at Elvis Presley Boulevard and Shelby Drive. Graceland is a favorite
tourist attraction, bringing tens of thousands of visitors here each year to the area's
shops, restaurants, hotels and other businesses.
Whitehaven is especially convenient for those who do business
at Memphis International Airport or the nearby Federal Express hub. But it's also
convenient to all other areas of the city via I-240 and I-55.
