Memphis is a 295.5 square mile city located in the
southwestern corner of the state of Tennessee. It is bordered on the south by Mississippi
and on the west by Arkansas. Memphis is the county seat of Shelby County, which contains
772 square miles. The highest point is 430 feet above sea level, while the lowest is 185
feet above sea level.
